Privacy Policy for Artists / Partners - Light Up

Last Updated: July 30, 2025

Light Up ("we," "us," or "our"), accessible via our partner mobile app and www.letslightup.com, values the privacy of our Partners (independent professionals providing services in India). This Privacy Policy is accessible within our partner app’s settings and on our website, and it explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal data when you register as a partner, use our partner app, or provide services ("Partner Services"). It outlines your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and how to contact us. This policy applies only to our Partner Services and not to third-party websites or apps linked from our platform.

1. Data We Collect

We collect the following personal data from you as a partner:

  • Identity and Contact Information: Name, email, phone number, address, and government-issued ID (e.g., Aadhaar number, PAN, masked as per law, mandatory for verification).
  • Professional Data:  Service categories, availability, and performance metrics (e.g., ratings, job completion rates, mandatory for onboarding).
  • Financial Data: Bank account details, payment history, and tax information for payouts (mandatory), processed via secure third-party providers.
  • Service-Related Data: Details of services provided (e.g., job location, date, customer details), customer feedback, and disputes (optional for feedback).
  • Automatically Collected Data: IP address, device ID, app usage, and location data (when using the partner app) via cookies or analytics tools.
  • Background Checks: Data from background checks or verification agencies to ensure eligibility and compliance (mandatory).

We do not collect data from individuals under 18. Partners must be of legal age to contract under Indian laws.

2. How We Collect Data

We collect data:

  • Directly from You: During partner onboarding, profile setup, service delivery, or communications via the app.
  • Automatically: Through our partner app, website, or analytics tools tracking usage and performance.
  • From Third Parties: From customers (e.g., feedback), payment processors, or verification agencies.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Verify your eligibility and onboard you as a partner.
  • Facilitate service bookings by sharing necessary details (e.g., name, contact) with customers.
  • Process payouts for services provided.
  • Monitor and improve partner performance via ratings and analytics.
  • Provide training, updates, or support through the partner app.
  • Send promotional updates about new features or opportunities (with consent).
  • Comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax reporting, fraud prevention) under Indian laws.

4. How We Share Your Data

We may share your data with:

  • Customers: Limited data (e.g., name, contact, service details) to facilitate bookings.
  • Service Providers: Trusted vendors (e.g., payment processors, hosting providers) who support Partner Services, bound by data protection agreements.
  • Legal Authorities: As required under Indian laws (e.g., DPDP Act) or to prevent fraud or illegal activity.
  • Business Transfers: In case of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your data may be transferred, with prior notice.

We do not sell your personal data for marketing purposes without your explicit consent. We provide detailed data collection and sharing information in the Google Play Data Safety section.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to:

  • Enhance app functionality (e.g., remembering preferences).
  • Analyze performance and monitor service delivery.
  • Track interactions with our Services to support platform improvements.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on servers managed by our hosting provider, primarily in the United States, with potential use of servers in Singapore, the UK, or Europe for backups or processing. We implement robust security measures (e.g., encryption, access controls) to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Data is retained only as long as necessary for Partner Services or legal requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymized.

7. Your Data Protection Rights

Under the DPDP Act, 2023, you have the following rights:

  • Access: Request details of your personal data we hold.
  • Correction: Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your data, subject to legal or contractual obligations.
  • Restrict Processing: Limit how we use your data in certain cases.
  • Data Portability: Obtain your data in a structured format.
  • Withdraw Consent: Opt out of data processing where consent is the basis (e.g., marketing).

To exercise these rights, contact our Data Protection Officer at admin@letslightup.com. We may verify your identity before processing requests. You may nominate a representative or lodge complaints with the Data Protection Board of India (once established).

8. International Data Transfers

As an India-based service, we aim to process data within India where possible. However, as our servers are primarily located in the United States, with potential backups or processing in Singapore, the UK, or Europe, your data may be transferred outside India. We ensure compliance with DPDP Act requirements by implementing safeguards like Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent measures to protect your data during such transfers.

9. Third-Party Links

Our partner app may link to third-party platforms (e.g., payment systems, professional networks). We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review their policies before sharing data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Updates will be posted on our website and app, with significant changes notified via email or app alerts. Please review periodically.
